Profile

For over 15 years, the primary focus of David Wallin’s practice has been in handling bodily injury claims.

David is the Chair of Whitelaw Twining’s ICBC Injury Claims Group. This practice group is dedicated to assisting individuals who have been seriously injured in motor vehicle accidents. David also acts on behalf of bodily injury plaintiffs involved in aviation and boating accidents, as well as occupiers liability claims and recreational injury claims.

David has a special interest in handling claims involving chronic neuromuscular / musculoskeletal injuries such as thoracic outlet syndrome, temporomandibular joint disorder, reflex sympathetic dystrophy / complex regional pain syndrome, fibromyalgia, facet joint injuries and chronic pain, as well as psychiatric, orthopaedic and brain injury claims.

In addition to his plaintiff personal injury practice, David also practices in the following areas:

  • advising and acting on behalf of companies, local governments and insurers with respect to defending serious bodily injury claims, including motor vehicle claims, occupiers liability claims, commercial / social host claims, defamation claims, retail / restaurant risk and product liability claims
  • advising and acting on behalf of companies, local governments and insurers with respect to fire, flood, and other property loss / business interruption claims, including the prosecution of such claims through subrogated proceedings
  • advising and acting on behalf of businesses, companies and individuals involved in contract disputes and other commercial litigation matters

David appears frequently as counsel at all court levels in British Columbia, including the Federal Court of Canada and the Federal Court of Appeal.  David also regularly appears as counsel before various provincial administrative boards and tribunals, such as WCAT.  He is a frequent presenter at various insurance industry and bodily injury conferences.
