David Plunkett practices in the areas of construction law, professional liability, corporate commercial, employment, and general insurance law.
Construction: David leads Whitelaw Twining's Construction Group. He represents contractors and owners in disputes involving cost overruns, project failures, tendering disputes, and lien claims. He has recently been involved in litigating and resolving a number of hydroelectric project failures. David's experience also includes defending E&O claims against architects and engineers.
Professional Liability: David has defended numerous professional liability claims against architects, engineers, accountants, insurance agents, financial planners, corporate directors, real estate agents, land surveyors, and home inspectors.
Corporate Commercial and Employment: David has broad corporate commercial experience, including resolving contractual disputes between companies as well as corporate governance issues such as shareholder disputes. David also acts on behalf of employers and employees in wrongful dismissal matters.
Business Loss and Insurance: David has experience defending claims and handling subrogation matters involving multi-party litigation. These claims include dealing with technical expert evidence, complex business interruption loss, pure economic loss, and the overlap of contractual and standard of care obligations.
