Alexandre Maltas joined Whitelaw Twining in 2007. He practices primarily in the areas insurance law, construction law, and commercial and employment litigation.
Alex’s insurance law practice focuses on insurance coverage disputes, subrogated claims and property damage/business loss claims.
Alex’s construction law practice includes tendering disputes, construction contract and workmanship disputes, delay and extra claims, builders liens, construction insurance, warranty claims and surety and bonding claims. In addition, Alex’s practice also focuses on defending design professionals.
Alex also has broad corporate/commercial litigation experience, including acting in contractual disputes, obtaining injunctive relief and acting in shareholder disputes. Alex has also acted on behalf of employers and employees in wrongful dismissal and human rights matters.
Alex has experience before the all levels of British Columbia Courts as well as before all levels of the Ontario and Federal Courts, the Tax Court of Canada and various administrative tribunals.
Prior to joining Whitelaw Twining, Alex articled and practiced in the areas of commercial and civil litigation at a national law firm in Toronto.

When not at the office, Alex enjoys spending time with his wife, young daughter and dog. He also plays golf, attempts to play basketball, and enjoys trying out new foods and wines.
