Lindsay Barrett was called to the Bar in 2002 and joined Whitelaw Twining in May 2002. She has experience in both the Provincial and Supreme Courts of British Columbia. She practices general insurance litigation, advises clients on coverage and defence matters and assists senior counsel on a variety of insurance litigation issues. She also acts for plaintiffs in subrogated actions focussing on recovery in property damage cases.
Lindsay has conducted seminars for colleagues on developments in the law relating to practice and procedure issues. She has experience in the organization of documentary evidence relating to large complex litigation files.
Lindsay has co-authored an article on the duty of department stores pursuant to the Occupiers Liability Act as well as an article respecting wrongful arrest and detention, focussing specifically on the duty of commercial security personnel. She also co-authored an article outlining the insuring and legal proceedings provisions contained within the Strata Property Act.
During law school Lindsay completed training in Alternative Dispute Resolution and she was awarded the Shibley Righton Award in Evidence. Lindsay was the Captain of the Queen's University Volleyball team and was Athlete of the Year in 2001. She competed in the 2003 Canadian National Beach Volleyball Championships at Wasaga Beach, Ontario.
